Three Plowshares Students in Conversation with Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
Kashish Shrestha (Nepal), Hussein Yussuf (Somalia), and Fadi Elsalameen can speak first hand of the effects of war on young people in their countries. These students from Manchester, Goshen, and Earlham Colleges respectively come from areas of the world where military and paramilitary conflicts involve children and youth. Betty Williams, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate from Northern Ireland, has devoted her life to combating child soldiering, landmines, and bargoes that adversely affect the lives of children around the world.
Williams, Shrestha, Yussuf, and Elsalameen will tell their stories and dialog about possible solutions in a program called Protecting the Tender: A Dialog on Children and War. Williams is visiting Indianapolis for the annual Spirit & Place Festival and will hold this dialog at The Old Centrum Center (520 E. 12th Street, Indianapolis) on Monday, November 10 at 10:30 a.m. Students from the Plowshares colleges are encouraged to attend. The meeting is open to the public.
For questions about transportation, speak to the Plowshares Director on your campus.
